Part - Project Cut Edge Fails - INV 2026.2

Hi. There is a part that has a direct edit move face at the end of Model Tree. In a Previously created sketch; edits after direct edit; can not project edge.

Am I missing something or this behaviour is a new issue for 2026.2 ??

This is the part sketch:

I want to make sketch fully constraint so I need to get part reference egdes. But although sketch plane has part intersections command can not peoject edges..

If I omit Model Tree edits after- below Extrusion of the sketch then I can project cut edges.

Note that previously created feature has an unresolved sketch elements on both way..

Even if after removing unresolved previous refs; the behaviour does not change; I need to remove face move direct edit in order to project edge.

SKETCH DIMENSIONING ISSUE

I would like to set the distance gap between new sketch line with a projected (existing) line to 5 mm to the left side of existing line...

When I enter 5 and click the green check - OK button..

hkilic896XF_1-1762610153797.png

Newly created sketch line goes to the right side of existing reference line..

I saw this behaviour on all previous 2026 releases and latest 2026.2 but don't remember if it was like this in 2025.xx

And the same behaviour in opposite side, if the line is on the right side and after setting the dimension it goes to the left side..

It happens when you first start in - initial dimensioning of sketch and occurs in vertically aligned sketch line dimensioning.. but does not in horizontal ones.

First creation of overconstraint dimension shows the wrong value.

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the findings! I have confirmed the behavior in earlier releases (as of Inventor 2019). Though the behavior is somewhat unexpected, it is legacy. I guess it has something to do with how the dependency between the Project Cut Edge and the selected face is managed. It seems to be that the Project Cut Edge command looks at the entire body as a whole including all the transformation occurred to the body. As a result, it considers the face is already moved. Moving the EOP above the Direct Edit temporarily exclude the transformation. As a result, it works.

I will work with the project team to understand the behavior better and see what we can do. But if I understand how this workflow works correctly, I won't anticipate a quick fix.

Thanks again!
