Part Profile

Hi All,

I am trying to create a profiled plate, the drawing (pdf) that i have is not of much help as it says trim to contour.

I have created the dished end (.ipt )and flange (.ipt) separate and assembled in assembly file (.iam).

Need to just profile cut this piece

Double click the flange to edit in place.

Use the copy object command to copy in the dome.

Use combine to subtract the dome shape from the flange

Assuming you are just making this as a laser cut part to be welded, you then need to cut out the profile in an extruded manner.

Draw a sketch and project the smallest curve of the dome cut out you just did.

Use that to create a profile you can extrude through the flange.

Here is a snaphot of what i have done.

Made flange separate

Made Dished End separate

Joined them using constraints in assembly file.

Made this hinge bracket seperate (see below)

Use delete face tool, but switch it to solids.

I assume when you did the combine you did a subtract operation?

How to cut profiles into other parts that are too difficult to do with a simple cut. Can also be done with imported geometry.
