parameter issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I have got the parameter from the sketch as a reference number and put it in the description. The thickness is 5mm. But it comes out to be 4mm in the description eventually. It happens randomly on some other structure steel like beam, channel as well. And there are full machines in the office with the setting all the same. But it only happens on my machine.

Any help?

Thanks

Besides sharing the file like @mdavis22569 has indicated..  If you go to the custom tab of your iproperties, what does the THK custom property state?  Also share the Inventor version you're using.

You realize this is a derived part looking for another part ...

Can I have the original?

Nevermind ...I found out why

Look at your custom iproperties

why.PNG

you have it present here 4, but not pulling the value from the properties for thickness.

Sorry mate, that is the main structure and i am not allowed to share that as it is kind of confidence. So with the individual ipt, i cant find anything wrong and exactly the same part works fine in any other machine.

I would look at how you build the angle ...and populate it ...

kind of hard doing it without all of it.

Why are you deriving it?

 edited to add:

I attached an angle that you might like and has all of the information populate

Just to confirm..  Are you saying if you do open this same part you providing on another machine the custom iproperty for THK is set to 5?  if that's the case are the other machines set to the same Inventor 2016 service packs/update as your machine?

When I uncheck the export for THK and redid it, the custom iproperty was correct.  However I'm a little confused (like @mdavis22569) in why this piece of structural angle is even derived from another part.  It sounds like you can't share the master file but is it possible to just tell us why a piece of structural angle is derived from something else?  I'm just trying to figure out your workflow. Thanks a lot. It is a angle tangent to a straight piping.

people start a complicated sketch and extrude to get individual parts using multi-body so that they do not need to put in constraint later. That is the reason i guess.

i have tried again from another machine with the same inventor setting. It was 4 at the beginning and after we open the angle sketch, did nothing and then it becomes 5. But it has been 4 in my machine all the time no matter what i have tried.

Hi

Have you applied all your service packs?

I had this issue once before, it was a logged as a bug, but was corrected with the subsequent service packs.

The issue I experienced, was that the Custom iproperties did not reflect the parameter changes. A coincidence, mine was also the thickness value.
