Parameter driven sketch

Hi Everyone!

I am trying to make parameter driven sketch for music instrument. 

What I control via parameters is string count, spacing between them in middle  and  at the end.

I want to place a points on blue line in order to be on line with two other points. Point placement depends on string count. Spacing on blue line between points are not equal.  String count needs to be changeable . So Question is how to place point on blue line depending on string count and they need to be on the line?

Hi! This might be a bit tricky to do in a sketch (still doable using sketch pattern). But, I would create a work point and create a rectangular pattern of the point. Use parameter expression to drive the number of points.

Hi @edgars8VUKG 

Here's how to break a line segment into points using a sketch pattern:

 

If you don't have a dimension for this line segment, you can either create one or create a driven (read only) dimension.
In addition, the number of points can be controlled using user parameters (and more advanced - through the configurator), so as not to search for these parameters in the list or in operations every time.

I also created a cental point to show you an important thing - as the number of points changes, Inventor does not remember their character.


That means you can easily change it manually.
But if you also want to automate further modeling operations (based on this pattern) so that the model construction updates, you will have to use more complex methods and tools like iCopy or iLogc.

Thank you for your all time. The proposed solutions do not work for my situation because of unequal point displacement. The proposed solutions gave me an Idea that each point separately must be placed on model as individual features.  One unified sketch controlling mechanism is not suitable for this situation. I have planned that using model states I can control which points are actives ones.  Since this is for my hobby project it will took some time to show some results in here. Thank You all again!

Cant Be equal spacing because spacing marked re areas must be equal like other music instruments, but in this case strings are not parallel  but with equal angle between them. If spacing is un equal then it is not comfortable to play it. That's why it is Super difficult to determine spacing between marked rec circle points. I want to make this model as tool for searching good and ergonomic designs for traditional music instrument. I have made abut twelve model types in 2d cad (not parametric) for searching good design. One thing is ergonomic and design buts most super important thing is physics which is applied to instrument. every string thickness ,frequency, forces is calculated and those determent precise string lengths.

I understand that the points on the yellow are evenly spaced.

What is the blue line for?

That line were for easier equal spacing purposes. That line is perpendicular to longest line and I can control angle between blue line and line with pacing points. This is made in this way because of players playing hand placement on instruments.
