Pack and go hangs up

I just started having this issue, pack and go fails to do anything more than make a yellow brief case on my status bar.

This happens with both Inventor 2018 and 2020. I have run a repair on both.

Any ideas of how to fix this?

Hello Thaddeus,

Is it happen for all of your data or a specific one?

Is that possible to provide a simple data for testing purpose?

Here is a related post for your reference -

Hope it helps!

It happens to any assembly or even a single file.

I have updated to the latest build (2020.2.1)

Hi Thaddeus,

Did you install the updates (2020.2 followed by 2020.2.1)? Also, did it only happen when you have Inventor running? If you close Inventor, does it work?

Many thanks!

It failed prior to installing 2020.2 and kept not working after 2020.2.1 was installed.

It does not work inside of windows file explorer, right click on an assembly or file and all that happens is a yellow briefcase appears on the task bar. in the task manager there is an app running Autodesk Pack and Go 2020 with a sub process Pack and Go, 0%CPU, 10.0 MD Memory, 0% Disk/Network/GPU.

Hi! I am not aware of an issue like this. Are there big files? Does it happen to any file? Are you running Inventor as Admin?

Many thanks!

Yes, any file, any size.

Hi! I am sorry I am still clueless. It could be a registration issue. Try this. Close Inventor and start a command line and execute the following command.

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2020\Bin\Inventor.exe install"

After that, does it work?

Many thanks!

Interesting command, it ran, Inventor started automatically, but Pack and Go still doesn't work.

Hi Thaddeus,

Please go to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2020\Bin\ and find DTCPexe.exe. Right-click on it -> Properties -> Compatibility -> check "Run as Admin."

Does it work now?

Many thanks!

So this is really embarrassing, this is the first time that a window opened by a process in Inventor and it didn’t restrict actions in the Inventor program.

So here was the issue, when I invoked Pack and Go, it did open a window, but it was off screen so I couldn’t find it, I only realized this after running the programs you asked, so, I’m not sure if it was available to me prior or not.

To cure the issue I used the method of moving a window that resides off the screen. Alt + Space bar, then M, using the arrow keys to move it into view. (If there is an easier way, please  post)

Many thanks for the time and effort you spent on helping to solve this.
