ordinate datum value

Hi

Is it be possible to set a value for the ordinate datum that isn't zero? I know this is not what inventor was designed for, but we often have to display AOD levels. I would like to set a known point to say 42.350 (M AOD) and work from there.

Thanks in advance

Hi Justin,

Indeed, this is not how Inventor was designed to work. But, you could sort of do that. Place the origin indicator attached to a view vertex. Right-click on it -> Edit -> you can define the X and Y offsets from this point. The origin indicator will be relocated accordingly. You can right-click on it and hide it. Now, the geometry you pick to create ordinate dimensions will be based on this new origin.

Many thanks!

That's exactly what I wanted to do, thanks.

I've also just figured out how to change only this dimension set to meters by creating a new dimension style and using "copy properties" to apply to the others. This now gives me my M-AOD measurement which is far easier than using leaders and forgetting to change the values when the levels change.

Cheers
