Opening Template Freezes Inventor-can't read bitmap logo

When I use the "new" command
I can't use the .idw template to create a new .idw file.
This only happens with the template which has .bmp logos in.
It just freezes Inventor & I have to do a Ctrl Alt Delete, & terminate.
Therefore at the moment I am opening the file as a normal .idw file
and then saving as, this works. Not the proper way, but a work around
.
See attached PDF giving full explanation with screenshots.

Hi! It looks like the default image editing program on your system is not Microsoft Paint. Try this. Close Inventor and go to File Explorer -> find the image file -> right-click -> Choose Default Program -> select Microsoft Paint. Then start Inventor and start a new idw file. Does it work now?

Many thanks!

Johnson

It won't allow me to do that.

I get the following message, see attached

No problem on my home laptop with the same template.

It opens, however it opens without even loading any of the logos at all.

Weird!

I will try here on my home desktop and see what happens

Hi Inventor Users and Autodesk People

This problem was never solved. I am still to this day not using the templates to open, but opening it as an idw then doing a save as.

I would like to try again to undestand and solve this problem. It is obviously linked to some problem with the location or format of

the logo image file.

When I try to open the template Inventor freezes, I have to do an abnormal termination, then I see the message below.

I am not understanding why this started happening about a month ago, but was never a problem before. Nothing has

changed on my software and hardware setups.

Hi Mike,

Did you repeat the process to register MS Paint as a default editor for .gif file?

Many thanks!

@MikeKovacik4928 can you attach the .gif and your template to investigate? Possibly delete out any sensitive info first and make sure it still fails.

It's not an animated gif like this is it?

bokkewin.gif

I checked and it inserts into the template just fine, but shows up as image, so my idea there is squashed.

Is it on all image files like .jpg, .png or just the gif?
