Hello,
I am working with e-NABLE to make a platform which allows for open source, 3D printable assistive devices modeled in Fusion 360 to be exported as STL files for 3D printing. Our devices are parametric, and part of the export process is changing model parameters to match measurements of device recipients, such as wrist and forearm radii for a wrist-actuated hand prosthetic. We are hoping to use the Design Automation API for Inventor to perform the export operation. Unfortunately, every method we've tried for opening Fusion 360 files in Inventor leaves us unable to change model parameters. It's important for our goal of allowing the public to contribute to this platform that Fusion 360 remains the software used for designing these devices, as we can't hand out Inventor licenses to anyone who wants to contribute models to the catalog. Is there any way we can use Fusion 360 models with the DA API while retaining the ability to edit model parameters? If not, is there any other way we could achieve both goals of using the DA API for exports and allowing the public to contribute parametric models made with free CAD software to our catalog?
