Open existing material library automatically?

Hi everyone,

I have created a new material library on a shared drive and my colleague can access it.

The only thing I need to find out is how it can be automatically loaded for access so that we don't have to "Open existing Library" every time we start Inventor.

I believe I have to add it somewhere in my project file but before I mess it up I thought I better ask.

Thanks for any support!

Hey, I think all you need to do now is edit your project file (make sure it's checked-out, not Read-Only, if it is Vaulted), and add an additional library location under the Material Libraries area. Go to "Get Started" tab > Projects > select your project, right-click Material Libraries and "Add Library".

You will be able to switch to that material library as needed (only one library is active at a time), in the Material Browser.

Same for Appearances.  In the project editor you also have the ability to select which Material and which Appearance libraries are the default, the ones that are active when you start up Inventor in that project.

What you say does not work for me.
I created a custom material library but am un able to keep it loaded. It is included in a master project file which is added to others as [Included file].
I still have to add my custom file every time I start a new session.
How can I get it loaded every time I start the app?

The "Included File" option does not include the materials and appearances. You will need to add your custom library to each project and make it default.

If you are using multiple projects like this, it is probably faster to copy an existing one with the libraries and then rename and remap the workspace as required.
