non standard thread data

Hi Group

I have a part with 46mm o/d and i want to put a male thread on here with like a metric fine 1, 1.5mm or 2mm pitch but in inventor the threads offered in iso metric are only 45mm or 48mm o/d?  why can't I set the diameter to what i want?  or is there another way of doing this?

I did select "metric forming screw threads"  which looks like it is doing the right thing but i 'm not sure what the sizes are referring to,  with size 1.5 the designation is 1.5 x 0.5  is this a 1.5mm pitch 0.5mm deep??

although when i select this option and apply a box pops up saying "create thread feature: problems encountered while executing this command"  and i'm not sure why

regards Adrian

I would edit the threads.xls file. That way you can just use the standard threading options for an external thread or a hole. For 2015 it is in the Design Data\XLS\en-US folder.

Can you post a picture or the file?

However to do it,

OD you need it to be 45mm ..not 46. It won't let you do it smaller than what the OD is

45 ...no problem

But the finished product is 45mm diameter thread?

If you just need an image to show up? Or for the call out note on the IDW ?

Well now I see ...I thought you wanted 45,

edit the Thread excel spreadsheet and add it ... just put in the proper requirements.

hi Michael

I use this chart but it has gaps between conventional threads i.e the 46, 47 etc.. i was hoping somone had worked out the bits between and posted it as a full chart
