Newbie Question

So I have been using this program for two weeks now.  Love it.  One thing has been stumping me though and I am sure it just lake of experience and overlooking something simple.  In the attached .ipt of a cylinder I am trying to figure out how to add four 3"X1.5" vertical slots through the sides every 90 degrees.  I tried starting a new sketch and selecting planes from the Origin folder under the explorer on the left but am only having luck adding two slots.  Any ideas.  Thanks in advance!

Thanks!  Not sure why.....should just be a simple cylinder.  I saved it again and attached both.

Edit sketch 2 for extrusion 1 and see for yourself..

He just drew the shape on the origin plane and extruded through the part (both directions) then did a circular pattern.. for the other 2

and notice all his sketches are "FULLY" constrained/dimensioned unlike yours.. That can be very important and can cause problems if you don't do so.. Just get in the habit of never leaving a sketch till its fully constrained..

PS.. I removed myself as the "solution".. JD did the work.. So I gave the solution points to him.. Kudos is good though

The key to learning Inventor is to learn to read the feature history tree in the browser.

Expand the features and right click on the sketches and select Edit Sketch.

Do the same for the features.

One good way is to drag the red End of Part marker in the browser to just below the first feature.

Then drag it down step-by-step going through each feature and sketch and examining how they were created.
