I do a lot of sheetmetal nesting and for the first time I'm trying to nest a set of non-sheetmetal parts. These are all 1/4" thick plastic parts that match adaptively to the sheetmetal parts they mount to. When I loaded them into nesting I got a flurry of "multiple part found" and "geometry not closed" errors. It appears to be pulling geometry from the adaptive sketch the part is based on.
Is this a known thing and I'm doing something wrong?
Example: The primary part in the center is the part that I'm trying to nest, and the extra lines and geometry around it are all sketch geometry or geometry from the plane the adaptive sketch was made on.

This is not a model I created, so I'm learning new things about it. As I look further into it, I've discovered that some of these parts in the nest are old versions of the part. No matter what I do, it will not pull in the current version to nest. Could this be related to the weird way they pull into nesting?
If anyone has any insight into the sketch pulling into the nest, I would be happy to hear it. In the mean time we will work around it with dxf.
Hi @ccec_ireland, could you have a try to change the source provider from "Inventor Part" to "Generic CAD"?
You can launch "Sources" command, and there is a column to set the "Source Provider" for each source part.
I think our default nesting template has both sources active, and it was bringing them in as inventor parts. Forcing them to be pulled as generic CAD did indeed solve the issue! Thanks @WillsonLeng.
I wonder if there is anything stopping us from converting these parts to sheet metal. Inventor environments are simply design tools - the name does not have to match the technological process, and only the essence of the tool should be optimally used in the design process.

These would typically be designed using sheet metal, which is likely why I'd never seen this before. In this case we were processing someone else's design work and ran across this.
