Need help with trying to design the following

Hi guys,

I am trying to model the following pictures (primarily the centre one).

My first attempt was revolving a sketch, however, I am unable to add the details (the gear teeth design) that wraps around the cylinder.

I tried googling alternatives and found that I could create a 2D sketch using a projected plane and then creating a 3D sketch to project it around a curve. However, with this method, I am unable to extrude the created sketch onto the model.

Another video had the person using sheet metal properties to unfold the object to add the details, however, my design will not be a perfect cylinder.

Does anyone have any ideas on methods/approaches I can take to accomplish this?

Thanks

Hi!

You could use a 2D sketch and emboss to do that:

Can you Attach the *.ipt file(s) of your attempt(s) here?

You can use a sketch on a plane on the cylinders shell to make a slightly embossed version of your patterns smallest part

After that you make a circular pattern

In the last step you´ll need an extrusion that cut´s away the non necessary parts of your array

And you should be good to go.
