Need help with this solid body part

I have this solid body part that consist of 2 plates and a tube. I need to know how to get rid of the plates and keep just the tube. I attached the file, if someone could walk me through how to do this so in the future I can do this type of thing on my own.

You can use Split tool to get rid of the plates.

Tip: Also you can split without trim, and next you can transform the multisolid in three independent parts.

I cant get the split tool to do it, and its probably due to my skill level. If you could demonstrate how to do these steps that would be amazing

Here's another method using the Extrude - Intersect Option.

right click on the part file under the 20-pak-**** and choose edit solid, once you are in you can right click on the parts you want to delete and delete them once you are done choose finish base solid from the top.

You can use the extruded cut feature.  Pick the side face of the plate (2 cut features picking the respective face on each plate) as the sketch plane.  Then use the project geometry feature and select the plate edges in that sketch plane.  Extruded, cut, through all and you are done.  See attached.  Took me all of about 30 seconds to do.
