The configuration of Model Based Dimensions is done using the Styles Editor while in your 2D drawing template.  Look for a dimensional style that suits you with a -3DA extension.  You will want to modify one of these because there are only four standard Inventor allows for MBD dimension in the model.  There is a whitepaper on the Imaginit Portal that explains the process.  Look to the end of the article and you will see fractional configuration setup.  The site will require you to log in but setting up your account is free and there are a lot of other good articles to help you with Inventor.

Hi! John's comments apply to MBD/3DA workflows. If you want to display sketch dimensions in fraction in a part or an assembly, here is what you need to do.

1) Go to Tools -> Document Settings -> Unit -> Model Dimension Display = Precise Value.

2) Go to Parameters table -> click on the small right-pointing arrow button in the parameter input field -> select "Fractional"

This will help you show any decimal value in fractional. When you enter a sketch dimension value, you can also type in fraction like 4'3/8" and it should be displayed as such.

Many thanks!
