My Assembly Has Disappeared

Hello All,

I am running 2014 Premium Design Suite on a Windows 7 64bit computer.

My Problem:

- I cannot see my assembly (I attached a screen shot of the assembly)

- It only is happing on this one specific assembly as other assemblies open no problem

- The Assembly tree shows that the parts are there

What I have tried that has not worked so far:

- Lots of Googling for an answer

- Rebuild All Command

- Tried opening it on another computer

- Made sure all of the parts are checked visible

- Looked to see if the visual settings were effecting it

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had something similar happen once. it would appear in other view reps but not the default.  What I did was create a new view representation, name the original default to something else and name the new view rep default. Then deleted the original "default" view rep. It was as if the view rep got corrupted somehow.

Don't know if that's your problem here, but just throwing it out there.

Have you closed/restarted Inventor?

Rebooted computer?

What if you change tools..application options..hardware tab to "compatibility mode" or "use software graphics"

Have you made sure your graphics card driver is up to date? what card? what driver version?

Suppress all but one part and then do a Zoom All.

Does that one part suddenly appear?

Yes this did make the one part appear. Then I was able to bring all the parts back into view by unsuppressing them.

Do you know what causes this problem?

My guess is that the bounding box size of one part is corrupt or you have a floater out in space.

Are any of your files imported from IGES or STEP or other?

All of the parts were created in Inventor as ipt files. I do not believe there are any floaters but, it did disappear again after brought all the parts back then tried to rotate the view. Once again I was able to get it back. Is there a way to fix the bounding box size error?

It could be a couple of other problems as well.

I have to go do my real job for a while, then I will come back with some things to try if someone else hasn't jumped in here.

Suppress half of the files.
Can you rotate / zoom etc?
Yes:
Unsuppress and suppress the other half and try again
No:
Suppress half of the unsuppressed files and try

Keep suppressing / unsuppressing by halves until you find the offending file.

What does suppress mean, or, how do I do it?

Right mouse click on a component and select Suppress from the context menu.

Edit: Suppress means suppressing components not needed for the current task.  When suppressing in assemblies, you will create level of details (LODs): http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2016/ENU/?guid=GUID-BB22DDCB-F370-4BF0-B438-EC1D0E91D49E.  In this case suppressing the components at JD has pointed out may resolve a given component boundry box issue or that you have a component floating out in space which would cause the model to appear small.

when I drew drafting detail in revit 2017 suddenly the rivet closed. when I opened it the detail disappeared. Do you have any experience how to fix it?

I don't have any experience drawing rivets in Revit.
