moving sketch dimensions?

Hi,

for some reason i thought i could move previously made dimensions around my sketch as needed ( move them out of the way of lines and other dimensions ).  Right now however once i place a dimension it cannot be moved unless deleted.

  How can i fix this?

Are you in the Edit Sketch mode?

Have you installed all Service Packs?
What version of Inventor?

What graphics card/driver?

Have you rebooted the computer and the behavior persists?

Can you attach a simple file here that exhibits this behavior?

I have inventor pro 2015.
When i start a new part, And begin sketching, the dims are non moveable.
Im not sure if i have latest service pack. Graphics card is nvidia 560m i think ( working off a laptop )
I will try a reboot and see if this helps ( im away from cpu today ). And will update results.

Hi FrontlineFusionLtd,

Just to confirm... You are clicking and dragging on the dimension numbers to try an move them right? Rather than clicking on the dimension lines as we would do in other applications, such as AutoCAD.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Correct. Im trying to click and drag the dimensions.
They are bound and will not move.

The behavior is new to me. Could you attach a file here? Does it happen to any part or some specific files?

Thanks!

Also,

Do you have a 3D Connexion device attached?

If so, go into the 3D Connexion Control Panel and click Calibrate.

Hello,

I'm looking for a solution to your second senario, relocating an exisitng dimension's dim line from one sketch feature to another, whereby keeping the model parameter name so that any existing equations that are children of that parameter are unaffected. It seems that once a dimension is defined, it cannot be repositioned to another sketch feature. Is this possible?

No that is not possible.  Create the dimension in the other sketch and then use FX parameters to rebuild your equations.
