modulair belt around a conveyor

Hello,

I have made this conveyor and want a modular belt around it.

Is there a function in inventor to wrap it around ?

Or do I have to do this with module module?

Maybe i can use roller chain function ??

Every advice is welcome.

This is the conveyor:

Pattern Workpoint along path curve and then Pattern Component.

Hi! JD is right. This needs to be done in two separate sets of steps. First, do you have an oval-like 2D Sketch in a part guiding the belts? If yes, you can edit the part and create a workpoint on the sketch vertex. Then use Rect Pattern -> select the workpoint -> select the 2D sketch as direction -> reset the base point if necessary.

Second, go back to the assembly. Comp Pattern -> pick the belt -> select Feature Pattern -> pick the workpoint pattern in the part. You will get the belt patterned along the 2D Sketch and each occurrence should intersects the corresponding workpoint. If you cannot figure out, please feel free to attach the files here. Forum experts can take a look and guide you through the process.

Many thanks!

I tried it for 2 hours but didn't succeed, i would really appreciate it if you can help.

Attached 1 module of the belt (every module is the same) and the sketch how the belt should run.

Something is wrong with your path sketch, but I can't figure out what is wrong - so I will have to recreate it from scratch.

One thing I will do differently is use a lot of equal (=) constraints rather than repeated dimensions and also Tangent constraints.

The first thing that occurs to me is - why model as individual components rather than as a cosmetic texture on a monolithic part?  By the time you view the rest of the assembly you would not be able to see the difference?

Overkill.PNG

This isn't correct yet, but I just seems like "overkill"?

Hmm okay maybe that was the problem.
I am very curious how you make the sketch.

Thank you very much in advance!

I worked on this a bit more and got a pattern (not correct yet) and it occurred to me that this would be far easier as a cosmetic texture (see my edited response above).

About "cosmetic texture on a monolithic part" i have no idea how this works that why me first thoughts went to individual components….

it does not have to be perfect, it is indeed more for the total picture.
(And that I know how to do this the next time)
