Modifications to Vibrating Screen STEP File in Inventor?

Hey guys,

Was wondering if you could edit STEP files within Inventor and if so, how would I carry out the following modifications to this vibrating screen? The AutoCAD drawing is what I need to modify the STEP file to be. The 50mm section between the first outlet and the top needs to be deleted and the cap becomes 'domed' to the dimensions as per the AutoCAD dwg, the bottom half stays as it.

Geometry is geometry.

It can be edited using the Direct Editing tools and the standard modeling tools.

This particular design change would be pretty easy.  (I would categorize as trivial in complexity, which concerns me about why you are asking the question.)

If you have to ask how to do the modifications - how much training and experience do you have with Inventor?  I assume no training/experience?  What version of Inventor are you using? 2012? 2021? 2022?

I assume this is reference to the part 4" FRAME...

My Inventor experience is rudimentary, mostly worked within CAD (for work) and SW (for uni). Most of my work experience is with AutoCAD and Mech. toolset.

And the 50mm section is the purple section below the 4" frame.

Direct Edit as mentioned before is very much like the AutoCAD way of working. In fact if you have full AutoCAD you can just edit the STEP file in AutoCAD by dragging the geometry/faces around.

Inventor is CAD.

SolidWorks is CAD and is the same as Inventor.

Can you create a screenshot showing the part that you are referring to?

Never mind, I figured out which part you are referring to.

This is a couple of simple Revolves.

Can you Attach the *.ipt file of your attempt here?  (You did not answer the question about what version of Inventor?)

Is there a reason why you need to do this in Inventor rather than AutoCAD?

Hi! Another option is to use Inventor Feature Recognition app. It has been updated to work with 2022.

Many thanks!
