Model tab disappears when Half Section View is applied

Hi. Using Inventor Professional 2023.1.

I've only just noticed in the last day or so that when I apply a Half Section View, my model tab above the browser pane disappears and I have to re-instate it. Seems to be the case with any assembly.

I've posted a Screencast of an example.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Here I can not see what you're reclaiming about.

Perhaps I misunderstood your problem? I can not open your screencast.

@j.palmeL29YX  Thanks for taking a look. Not sure what happened with the screencast, but you should now see a link in my original post.

Ultimately, in an .iam, from the View ribbon, I click on Half Section View, select any plane, apply a value and finish. My Model tab disappears and I have to add it back to the browser pane.

This is not true of any other section view.

I hope you can see this.

@steve_lindley

That is so weird.  Thanks for the video.  I am also unable to reproduce this.  I wonder if it has anything to do with any iLogic rules you may have in this model.  I noticed that when Model tab disappears, the View jumps to the Rules tab.  Try this same exercise in an assembly that doesn't have any iLogic maybe?

@CGBenner That's an interesting suggestion. Before this problem showed up, I had seen a couple of issues with the ilogic tab too but quite minor really.

In my own particular way, I prefer to have my Model tab on the left and the ilogic tab to the right. At some point with 2023, I noticed that no matter how many times I tried setting it that way round, the iLogic tab always jumped to the left. I just accepted it as a bug and left it that way round. Doesn't stop me getting on.

Also, you'll be able to see from the screencast that there are two identically named folders in the Manually Added section of the iLogic tab. In the top one I have a list of probably 10 rules that I use regularly. It was just this one folder originally, but recently I needed to add a new rule and for some reason when I added it I got a new folder. Again, doesn't stop me getting on with my work, so I just accepted it, but there's clearly something funky going on with my tabs.

Just a point to note. The rules you see are all external. I don't have any rules in the parts or assemblies. I'll try removing the rules and report back later.

Hi! This is probably related to NASTRAN Add-In. Here is a similar discussion. The defect was reported as NASMECH-4404.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/issue-with-disapearing-model-tree/m-p/11318253

The latest status shows it will be fixed in NASTRAN 2023.2 update.

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue Aha! That explains it! I downloaded Nastran just over a week ago and I've been using it daily and it explains why it's the same on another PC in the office.

Many thanks. I look forward to the update....

@teknikresim2  Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, at the moment I'm using Nastran quite a bit, so this doesn't help yet, but I'll keep it mind once the FEA is finished.

I get the model tab disappearing act if using section view.

I use Nastran regularly.

My iLogic tab stays when the Model Browser disappears.

I have seen the messages indicating that the issue may be a linked to the Nastran product, I do not use or have Nastran installed on my PC.
