Model States Debacle

Can anyone tell me why Autodesk rolled out "Model States" years ago, but has yet to fix the main issues with it?

why is it still so hard to link model states from the base component to the resulting part? and when you do have them in the part, it still wont update from the assembly?

Hi

The derived part may have its own model states.
Therefore, inheritance of model states is impossible because it could lead to "information collisions". It's a consciously thought-out (limited) workflow.

The situation is similar when working with assembly. This is limited so that the model does not fall apart.

Hi! I guess the request in  this particular case is about the ability to drive Model States across components (adaptive, derive, or suppressing occurrences). We have heard the similar requests. But we have not implemented them. There is still ongoing project focus on Model States. Please sign up Inventor Feedback Community (https://autode.sk/InventorBeta). You may try the workflows of your interest on the latest internal build. The project teams are eager to hear your feedback.

Many thanks!
