No question this time... Just wow!

So many things unlocked with Model States!

Thanks @ChrisMitchell01 and to the dev team.

Great stuff!

Hi Christoph,

I see the behavior. I think this is a bug. My prove is that, you can copy Master MS to create a new MS and the BOM properties are identical to Master MS. But, the moment you make a change to one of the instance, they are all reset. This is wrong.

I believe this is a bug. I will work with the project team to understand the behavior better.

Many thanks!

Is there any way of replicating "All Content Center Suppressed LOD" in 2022?  Our workflow utilized this feature as a method for suppressing hardware requirements when driving our ERP software from Inventor BOMs.  In order to manually suppress Content Center hardware, we now need to drill down to all subassemblies and edit individually.

This is especially burdensome on large assemblies.

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

Is there any way of replicating "All Content Center Suppressed LOD" in 2022?  We previously used that feature to suppress hardware when driving ERP software (BOMs) from Inventor BOMs.   In 2022, we have to manually suppress CC hardware which requires drilling down to all subassemblies and editing individually. This is especially burdensome on large assemblies.

Thanks!

Hi Brian,

Indeed, "All CC Suppressed" LOD has been removed from Model States. But, there is a "Hide All CC Components" Design View in the Open Options. You can place or open an assembly with such option enabled.

Many thanks!

Thanks, but in our case we want the CC parts to actually be suppressed. The
importance of "All CC Suppressed" LOD was that they were excluded from
the BOM. The visibility was actually unimportant. We drive our ERP system
from the Inventor boms and previously used the default LOD to exclude
(floorstock) hardware.

Hi! At the moment, you could use Select Filter to select the small CC parts and then suppress them all.

Many thanks!

Yes, but you need to edit each sub assembly individually in order to
suppress components. Some of our assemblies have 5 or 6 subassembly
layers. Once the data is pushed to our ERP system, each subassembly needs
to be edited again to unsuppress b4 checking back into Vault. The great
thing about "All CC suppressed LOD" was that it suppressed/unsuppressed
down through all sub assembly levels without individual editing. Is there
some avenue for formally requesting this feature to be reinstated?

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the workflow! That is exactly what "Hide All CC Parts" design view is supposed to do. Currently, it is only available when opening an iam file. Maybe there is a need to make it more available. I will work with the project team to understand it better.

Many thanks!

Thanks-

The "*Hide* All CC Parts" option when opening an .iam does drill down
through subassemblies. Unfortunately, our workflow needs the CC parts to be*
suppressed, *not just hidden, so they do not appear in the Bill of
Materials. In release 2021, "Suppress all CC" provided this functionality,
but is entirely missing in 2022.

Please relay this nuance to the project team. An update that brings this
functionality back would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! Just to clarify, even on 2021 and earlier, "Suppress All CC" LOD does not remove the CC parts from BOM. LOD does not modify BOM table.

Many thanks!

Hello-
Thanks for the clarification. Pre 2022 the act of suppression (in
Inventor) resulted in exclusion when pushing the data to our ERP system
(Genius Manufacturing). I no longer have 2021 loaded, so I'm not sure how
the Inventor BOM presented suppressed items, however in 2022 suppressed
items show a "0" quantity in the Inventor BOM:

If the items hidden but not suppressed, the quantity is displayed:

Inventor 2022 now also provides a warning message when suppressing:

Thanks again for your detailed response. Please let me know if there is
any other information you need from me, or if I should pursue some other
avenue to get this important feature restored.

@admaiora , @bmoore , @RajSchmidt & @c_stulz , Many thanks to share the workflow with us. I create the steps of workflow for reference. Does it make sense for you?

Hello @Yijiang.Cai, this makes sense for me to use as a workaround. Just two points:

When you open the assembly directly from Vault you don’t have the necessary options. So it becomes somewhat clumsy. (Download the models, and then use the Inventor open dialogue to navigate.)

And what if I do not use the parts list in the drawing? Many people export the list from the assembly or work in Vault.

Let’s hope to get this “Hide CC” included in the Model States soon.

Hello and thanks,

You workflow would work nicely for not displaying hidden/suppressed parts on a drawing, but in our case we are directly pushing data from our models into an ERP system.  Additionally, the need to edit each subassembly is not addressed by the workflow.  Prior to 2022, "All CC suppressed" LOD would suppress down through subassemblies that were not in an edit mode.

We need that functionality to avoid time consuming edit/suppress/finish edit/edit sub assembly ect. and then reverse and repeat to unsuppress once the data is pushed to ETM. Not only is the manual method time consuming, it is also subject to mistakes!

@bmoore @RajSchmidt , In Inventor 2021 we use suppress All CC LOD, and the CC parts will be still in BOM. Maybe you will change the BOM structure to reference when the component is suppressed, and you will get the expected QTY of components. In Inventor 2022, we use the design view "Hide all content center parts", and change BOM structure of invisible components. That we can get the similar result here.

Could you have some more comments why you prefer to suppress the CC parts but not make them invisible?

Thanks,
River Cai

@RajSchmidt @johnsonshiue

Our desired behavior is to have a "0" quantity in the BOM.  When I use "Hide all CC" I still have the undesirable result of quantities displayed:

undesirable behavior.png

I can manually supress to change quantities in BOM to "0", but it requires editing of sub assemblies for drill down suppression:desirable behavior.png

A search filter is useful, but you still need to manually edit and suppress (see video link).

In your response you said: "In Inventor 2022, we use the design view "Hide all content center parts", and change BOM structure of invisible components."

In what way should the bom structure change? I don't see any change in our environment.

Many thanks,

Brian

I mean you can change the BOM structure of CC part in BOM dialog manually to reference, and these CC parts will not be listed in BOM structured view.

I'm not sure how I would be able to do that.

Our CC parts are Item controlled locked and can only be edited with CC Editor. Our default BOM structure for CC parts is purchased and globally changing them would not be acceptable because we only want "0" quantity when we push data to ERP system.   I can't manually toggle reference/purchased in the BOM dialogue box because of the lock:CC locked status.png

Hi River,

Sorry I meant to direct to your attention, pardon the redundant post:

Based on the image you provided, I got it. CC parts as library parts can't be edited. Without suppressing but visibility controlled, I suppose we have to change the QTY of CC parts to 0 manually. I am interested in more details. In Inventor 2021, we use the LOD, and the suppressed CC parts are still counted to QTY. What about your workflow to make the right QTY in BOM? Or you just leave as it and no additional steps to make the QTY correct?

Thanks,
River Cai
