Missing Top Line Panel/Menu, Hidden Ribbon Bar

OK, I have gone and done it.  Some how I have turned off the top of the line menu/panels for Inventor 2016.  All the literature says to right-click but there is no area in which to right click.  Is there a key stroke function that will make the top of the line menu/panels re-appear?

Hello,

The screencast shows the button which you need to click to get your menu/panels back.

If this is the menu/panels which are missing?

Hope this helps?

Thomas.

@raymondsmith Don't think thats possible unless you are having a graphics card driver issue?

It should be that "pill" button they are showing in the video above

Have you updated your graphics card driver to the latest version from the card manufacturers site?

How about restarting your computer?

Hello @raymondsmith you can press the Alt key and it will bring up the hotkeys associated with the ribbon. For instance you can then press 'X' then '2'

You can customize the Quick Access Toolbar here if you need to.

@raymondsmith after a bit of trial and error I was able to reproduce your screen by unplugging my second monitor.

The Ribbon Bar is unattached and floating in space where the second monitor used to be. I tried changing a bunch of settings but nothing worked.

You will not see anything going on but it should bring the ribbon bar back if you follow these steps:

ALT
M
DOCUMENT KEY (BETWEEN Ctrl + Windows)
DOWN ARROW
RIGHT ARROW
UP ARROW
ENTER

ENTER

@raymondsmith Even when changed to single view the ribbon is still floating in space, I tried that on my computer. If you hooked up a second monitor you would probably see it. You can always run the reset utility if you are getting frustrated, but before you do, try this:

ALT
M
Shift + F10 (on Laptop)    or   MENU KEY (Between Ctrl + Windows on Keyboard)
DOWN ARROW
RIGHT ARROW
UP ARROW
ENTER

ENTER

This partially resolved the problem, but only after we modified the positions of the dual monitors. The monitors had been set up as stacked one on top of the other, so even with both monitors showing the ribbon was still missing. We tried the positions of the monitors in a few different positions to finally find the ribbon bar.

Amazing help!  Thanks so much.  This happened to me on about 2020-OCT-01 and this key sequence fixed it.  I am using two monitors through a VPN.  The actual Thinkstation shows the ribbon, but the remote VPN did not.  Now it does.

Thanks!
