Mirroring assembly components issue

I'm trying to use mirror to generate an identical mirrored part in an assembly.  The problem is 2019 will not let the new part be a completely independent part.  The browser shows that it is a derived part from the original even though I've selected it to be a new component.  When trying to edit the new part, the features that created the part are not available to change.  Also if a drawing file is created of the mirrored part and the <QTYNOTE> value is added to the note, Inventor counts all the holes in BOTH parts and displays it on the drawing.  2017 worked flawlessly, what has changed?

You will probably need to pack and go your assembly and zip the files up and post it to your question to get a relevant answer.  It is very hard to tell what is going on just from pictures.

Hi! Mirror Component workflow does create parts linked to the source parts. You either get the same part but relocated symmetrically or a derived part to the source part. I think what you are looking for should be accomplished by using Mirror Body. Here is what you need to do.

1) Open the source part in its own window.

2) Mirror command -> Whole Body -> pick a logical mirror plane -> check Remove original -> Ok. The body will be mirrored to the other side.

3) Place this part to the assembly.

Is this what you are looking for?

Many thanks!

Thanks for your reply. That solution does seem to work, however its kind of clunky. After I followed your steps, I did a "save as" to save to new file name and then opened the new file. All features in the browser still relate back to the original view of the part and not on the new part.

Hi! I guess you were hoping to have a total mirrored part with all features flipping to the other side. That workflow does not exist in Inventor. I am not aware of any CAD system capable of doing it at the moment.

Many thanks!
