Mirror an assembly

Hello,

I need a frame and a mirrored version of it. Some parts are custom, some content center, and some of a company library folder. We have a partlist of the original frame, and need also one of the mirrored assembly. Parts that can be reused may keep the same name, but others need a new name.

For the predesign I used a derrived part that I could mirror, but it is not sufficient for manufactoring and ordering

What would be the easiest way to create (and future update) the mirrored version?

I attached a pack n go of the left fame. Many thx, Johan

Hi, Johan.  Is it only the frame that you need mirrored, or this entire assembly?

Part of the entire assembly, some piping assemblies are different too.

Hi

When mirroring components, pay attention to the mirror status - you can individually set whether the component is to be duplicated or a new derived component with a new name created.

I would do something different with the frame itself.
You can manually reinsert it into the assembly (if you have a separate iam assembly) and apply the appropriate constraints. You can also use iLogic copying if the frame is to be slightly modified.

after 1 day of trying, gave it up. Mirroring assemblies in inventor is a nightmare.

Copy Designed it and made all modifications manually.

Hi,

You can try to create a new substitute as a part of the assembly and afterwards you can mirror the part that wll be driven by the original assembly.

What do you think?

Best Regards,

Cosmin

Looks like this may have been finally addressed in Inventor 2026 according to this blog:
