Mesh to Solid/Surface

Hi all,

I need some help converting any of this file to a solid or surface and reducing the size of it(MB). I have tried with "Mesh enabler" from Autodesk App, but my computer keeps frozen.

Many thanks and I much appreciate your help/time.

Kind regards

Juan

Hi Juan,

What is the end result that you are looking for? Inventor 2018 supports mesh based solids for Constraints and drawings.

Inventor has some tools for mesh conversion, but it's not automatic yet...

You could try opening this workflow:

  • Open the Mesh with ReMake
  • Export Quad OBJ
  • Open Quad OBJ in Fusion360 - Convert Mesh to Brep
  • Open Brep In Inventor

It sounds like a lot of work, but (Apart from downloading and installing the software) It's pretty seamless, and can save you having to build a new solid using the mesh as a reference by hand.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Right now, I am working on Inventor 2017, do you know if I can do the same?

Cheers

It's about 80Mb so I can attached to the post, that is the reason why I upload to Dropbox and shared the link. 🙂

Can you upload to https://myhub.autodesk360.com and add link to download here?

Can you post screen capture image of the geometry?

Mesh geometry is generally of little use in an MCAD software.
