material properties in simulation

Hello,

does Inventor simulate an assembly based on the coordinate system of the assembly or does the coordinate system of each part affect the result. I have different values for material properties based on the direction (for elastisity and rigidity) and didn't care for the directions while modelling the seperate parts. Does this affect the calculation and do I need to orient the parts?

thanks for your help

Inventor simulation is restricted to isotropic materials.

Even though I can set different values for each direction in the material seetings?

Run an FEA on a simple cantilever beam using your material.

What happens?

(attach your file here)

Hmmm, I thought you would get an error, but for some reason I did not (in r2015).

In any case, Inventor FEA is limited to isotropic materials.

Go ahead and run the simulation and see if the results make logical sense.

Is this also the case for a modal analysis?
