Material Library Links

I'm having an issue where I've created new materials but they seem to have some links to each

other that I didn't intend. What I'm doing is generating a custom Content Center with Part Numbers that are driven by size. For instance a .375-16 UNC x 1" bolt Grade 5 bolt Results in a part # BHC6UNC16G5.

That's all working well. To get the G5 I made a custom material with that name. I also made others such as G8, 8.8, 10.9 and BAl which is a Black painted aluminium rivet. My problem is that for some reason when I set the density of BAl material it also changes the density in my 8.8 material.
Is there a link somewhere that I accidentally created when the material was made?

How do I correct these issues?

Look at the material physical property.

Each material has Appearance and physical property.

You need to choice or create different physical/appearance.

Usually when you copy a material, IV will make a copy of each.

If you change the name of material which I do all the time, it'll use same property as before.

That would make sense. Except that when I do rename the physical properties it changes in the other one.

If I change the physical property name in 8.8 to 8.8 then the physical property name in Al also changes to 8.8. And also visa versa

Can you do a screencast and show us how you are changing the density and how it is affecting the other material?

Ahh unfortunately I figured out another solution and don't have that problem anymore.

I selected materials and appearances from the Asset Browser. This has fixed the issue and given me the correct weights.

Thanks all for your efforts
