making a scissor lift

I have an assembly that I have a base then I associate a rectangular plate with rounded ends that has 3 holes in it. One end goes to the base the middle goes to the rod where it is scissored to another plate and the second plate goes to another rod that is in a slide. Every time I try to associate the 3rd hole to the other rod the plate totaly disassociates with the other rod. (the plate is suppose to be free spinning)  What am I doing wrong?

Do you need this specific design for a specific job  - or - are you using this particular design simply as a learning tool for learning Inventor.

The reason I ask is because I already have a complete video recording of how to model a >> Scissors Jack <<(similar design) but not this particular design.  I takes a lot of time to go step-by-step how to do a design.
