Make Components dialog greyed out when adding to existing assembly

Hi, hoping someone can advise a solution or point me in the right direction.

Recently migrated to 2022 from 2021, and everything has been fine up until now.

I have successfully created assembly from multibody part using the "make components" route.

I now find myself needing to add a few more parts to the assembly, in previous releases i simply go back to "make components" choose the existing assembly and away we go, in 2022 all options now grey out as soon as i pick existing assembly and there is now no way to proceed.

Any help much appreciated as i'm in the middle of a time sensitive project and can't roll back to previous release now as the file isn't backwards compatible

Kind Regards

Simon

Make Part instead and then add it to the assembly.

Place Grounded at Origin.

Thanks john for the work around, unfortunately due to our workflow that is quite time consuming with multiple parts to add and if i create a new assembly i end up with lots of sub assemblies which our workflow doesn't lend itself to working with do to some of the upstream woodwork plug ins.

Does anyone know if there is a solution to fix the problem? is it something in my settings? or is it a bug?

Kind regards

This is a known issue (INVGEN-57952) of 2022.2 update. If this is something you really need working, uninstall this latest update and roll back to 2022.1:

INVGEN-57979 experiencing the same issue here. Build 287, Release: 2022.2. Looking forward to a fix very soon. This is a HUGE time waster on large top-down .IPT > .IAMs. Thanks!

HI,

following on from the comment of rolling back, could someone point me in the direction of the 1.1 update installert as its seems to have been unhelpfully removed from any of the update download locations. currently had to roll back to initial release which is now causing more problems.

thanking in advance

Still broken and the workflow for "Make Components" has changed when combining or splitting bodies.

hi, @BDCollett,

Yes struggling with that change of workflow myself, raised a forum post myself, but got no traction,

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/behavioral-change-between-multi-body-parts-and-derived...

Have escalated with my reseller and had a phone call from Autodesk yesterday, to run through what has changed, so hopefully they might revert it back soon.

Regards the Make Components problem, I believe the problem is solved and a fix is due out soon

Cheers
