Your template issue sounds like you have a styles conflict message.  Are you seeing a styles conflict message when you start creating parts/assembly/drawings?

For your project lose it sounds like the Inventor profile is messed up and not saving information.  Run the inventor reset utility on one machine to see if that resolves the issue.

We don't see any messages. Just when we go to create a new part or drawing, the templates are gone.  We have to go in settings and reset the file location.

It sounds like the project file is incorrect.  Where are you setting your template location?  Via Tools/Application Options/File tab or through the folder options of your project file?

So its a network location..  When you launch Inventor are you 100% sure your network connection to that network drive is "live"?  When are you seeing this issue where it doesn't work?  Upon first launch of Inventor or throughout the day?   Have you tried an UNC path syntax instead of a hard code to a network drive?

We see this problem through out the day. We save our templates on a network drive because how many people we have using it. Only couple people has had issues with the templates. Three of us had problems with the projects being gone. So it's not everyone who uses it just a few of us. I Have experience both only one time each.

My opinion..  I think your machines are losing connection to the network or something in your network traffic is slowing down.  For a test have one machine work locally (and don't use the network) for a few days and see if the issue is there.   Do you have an IT support team?  Perhaps they should look at network traffic and etc.  When it happens again, check your network connection.   Also are you guys using VoIP phones?  Meaning is your computers plugged into a phone and then the phone is plugged into the network port?

We are not using VoIP phones. It seems like it just resets back to default settings. I would think if the network was disconnected it would show an error and not reset a setting.

We are still having this problem. Still seems like the inventor is doing a reset on settings. Losing our projects and losing the templates. We restart the program sometimes the projects will show back up and have to go back into settings and reset the file location for our templates.

Hi! Are you on 2016 or older releases? I believe the behavior you are seeing is indeed the way it works back then. It has been changed to a more friendly behavior without deleting the original templates (2017 and later).

Many thanks!

Hi! The only logical reason I can think of is that you don't have a stable \Templates\ path defined in your project. The active template path is actually dictated by Project setting -> Folder Options -> Templates. You can go to Tools -> Application Options -> File to set the default Template path. This option only dictates the "default" template path, meaning in a project if you don't specify the template path out of box.

If you inherit somebody's project, you need to make sure the setting in the project is correct. You can either change it to "default" (based on App Options) or select a folder path where the template files are stored.

Many thanks!

We never had problem with this until we got Inventor 2019. We been using the same locations for our templates for years.

Hi! Could you share the steps to reproduce the behavior? I am not aware of a workflow leading to loss of templates and projects.

Many thanks!

Not sure how to make it happen. It just happens out of the blue. We got to create a new part and our templates are gone. We have to go back into setting and re-link the folder. If we want to change projects the list of our projects we worked on will be gone.
