Loft Help

Hi,

Is there anyway I loft without the solid going through a previously made solid? In other words, can I get a loft to stop at surfaces?

I've attached pictures of the loft I'm trying to do. I do not want the sold going through the cut off cone shaped solid before the second sketch. I'd like the loft to stop at its surface.

Thanks!

I recommend using the most primitive geometry possible - I do not see any geometry that I would expect to be Lofted.

Looks like Revolve would be an easier technique.

Can you attach your *.ipt here.

Hi!

I'm trying to loft an ellipse to a circle - sorry I didn't make that clear. I think a revolve wouldn't produce the same solid as the loft but I may be wrong.

Yes! Thank you so very much!

Also, can you explain how you did it? I really want to get good at this program.

If you want to get good at this program - you must learn to read the history tree.  All the steps I did are recorded in the history.

But frankly, I think I would start over from scratch on this design. The creation of the geometry could be significantly simplfied.

How could I simplify it?

Before I spend time on the problem - I would want to verify that what you have so far is really what you want.

Examine the last two sketches in the attached file from the Left view and the Front view on the view cube.

Is this really what you want - or is your design intent a constant slope like the lines in the sketches I added?

It does not matter to me if the slope is constant or not - This is supposed to be a cast for a cat's leg. I cannot think of any advantages for a constant slope or a non constant slope.
