Leader Text w/o Leader

This isn't so much a question as it is more of a workaround discovery. In SolidWorks if you wanted to have have a dynamic leader in a drawing w/ text but you didn't want the leader, you could right click on the leader and say remove leader. Inventor doesn't appear to have that, so here's my inelegant workaround:

  1. Create a new leader style and set the Line Format color to white. Save the style.
  2. Create a new dimension style and under the Notes and Leaders tab, select the new leader style you just created in the Leader Style dropdown. Save the style.
  3. Change the layer of whichever Leader Texts you need to your newly created dimension style and voila!

Hope this helps someone. Cheers and happy modeling.

You could also make a sketched symbol that just has a prompted entry.  Then you can insert it with a leader and hide the leader.

Unless I'm doing something incorrectly using your method, I'm not finding a way to have the usual text entry box that propagates with Text Leader; I'm given a static entry table. What my intentions were was to have the text contents of the leader dynamically linked to whatever the leader is attached to for pulling in properties or attributes.

I apologize, I didn't realize you were talking about pulling information from the part.  In that case you don't want to use a prompted entry, but you can pull properties from whatever the leader is attached to.  Define a new sketched symbol and simply put a text box on it.  You have all the same options in there that you have with leader text.  Set the property that you want to use and click on the add text parameter button.  Then you can insert the new symbol with a leader and make the leader invisible.

Depending on the application, that could be a lot of Sketch Symbols to set up, but I do appreciate the approach.
