Large Assembly showing unwanted hidden detail

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to better optimise Inventor when working with large assemblies. At the moment, when the assembly gets large enough, it will show a lot of hidden details to smaller parts when under the 'Shaded with Edges' appearance which otherwise would not happen when viewed as a subassembly. I have updated my drivers for the graphics card (Quadro K4200) with no success. I have attached a couple of screenshots.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Hi! This kind of bleed-through should only happen when the internal detail is fairly close to the exterior faces. The behavior exhibited in the snapshot does not make sense to me. Did you try changing the option in Tools -> Application Options -> Hardware -> Conservative mode? Does it matter if you change the appearance style of the external component?

Many thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I have changed it to conservative with no success but fully loading the assembly (exiting express mode) fixes the issue and displays the assembly properly. Is this a problem that's restricted to express loading of large assemblies?

When you changed the setting that @johnsonshiue indicated, did you actually exit Inventor and restart it?  It is a requirement when making that change...

Yes of course. Restarted inventor and tried again restarting my computer. Fully loading the assembly has no problems but it would be nice if I could view it in express mode properly as well.

Hi! This is interesting. It sounds like the graphics presented in Express mode has some issues. It is possible the cached graphics was bad or the graphics quality was not good. Could you try two more things for me?

1) Load the assembly full and do rebuild all. Save it. The cached graphics has been updated. Open the assembly in Express mode. Do you still see the problem?

2) Go to Tools -> Document Settings -> Modeling -> check "Maintain Enhanced Graphics Detail" option. Then save the file.

Many thanks!

Loading and rebuilding the assembly fixed the issue and works fine in express mode now. 'Maintain Enhanced Graphics Detail' was already checked for me.

Seems to have solved the issue, many thanks Johnson!
