Laggy, slow performance after upgrading PC

Hello everyone,

After upgrading PC, I am experiencing extremely slow performance in Inventor when rotating assembly. This only happens if I put mouse on some part in assembly and rotate with 3D mouse. If I put mouse on assembly tree or outside of the assembly, rotating is smooth.

Assembly has less than 100 parts, and nothing complex about it. In graphic settings, performance setting is checked, and no software graphic. And other settings tweaks recommended from other forum posts didn't help. Windows power setting set to performance.

I tested the same assembly on the old PC and performance is good, no lag.

Old PC:

4th Gen i5, 16 GB RAM, GTX 650Ti

New PC:

Intel Xeon W-2133 6/12 3.6/3.9 GHz

32 GB 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM

NVIDIA Quadro P2000 5GB

1 TB NVMe SSD

(DELL Precision 5820 Workstation)

Inventor PRO 2018

Windows 10, all latest updates installed.

BIOS, NVIDIA, 3Dconnexion and all other latest drivers installed.

Thanks.

Any meshes or broken geometry in that dataset? Are you using the same settings as your old PC? In particular, try under Tools > App. Options > General > Select "Enable Optimized Selection". What are your Express Mode Settings for old and new PC (under App. Options > Assembly)? Also, check under your View tab in the ribbon if any visual style and other appearances are set differently between PCs.

Hi! Please make sure Inventor runs on the dedicated graphics card, not the embedded one. Also try disabling Express mode (Tools -> App Options -> Assembly -> uncheck "Enable Express mode").

Many thanks!

Update: Still no improvement. I disabled Express mode, Inventor runs on dedicated graphic card (Xeon doesn't have igpu). Enabled Optimized selection. Changing settings in Appearance tab doesn't improve (Shadows, reflections are disabled).

I tried with other assembly's and same happens. Not usable to work with.

Thanks.

Do you run Calibrate at the start of each morning?

Hi! How far are the components from the origin point? Also use Ctrl+F7 (make sure you have C:\Temp\ folder) to check if there is any bad body. Bad bodies can lead to performance issues. Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed. And install the updates to 2018.

2018 is very old. There isn't much we can do with it. Could you try installing a more recent release (2020 or later)?

Many thanks!
