Keep colors from Display Separate Colors option when going into Part

Is there a way to retain the colors assigned to unique parts using the "Display Separate Colors" option when opening a part from an assembly?

Additionally, the "Display Separate Colors" option doesn't automatically reapply when returning to the assembly.

No, you either get unique colours or you don't there's no way to respect overrides.

This feature is navigational in nature. It does not assign properties to components (or take them into account), but is only used for visual orientation during presentation.
