Import ACAD bug?

When I try to import an AutoCAD drawing into an Inventor sketch, the dialog box does not appear. I also attempted to copy the AutoCAD drawing in AutoCAD and paste it into Inventor, but unfortunately, this did not work either. Additionally, I tried using the 3D Model > Import tab to load the AutoCAD drawing, but this also failed.

Current Situation:
I am currently working with Inventor 2025.2.1.

Steps I Have Already Tried:

• Running the Inventor Reset Utility.
• Importing with and without a Vault connection.
• Using the default Floor Plan Sample from AutoCAD as a test file.

Unfortunately, none of these steps have resolved the issue. Does anyone have any tips or a possible solution?

Have you tried importing from within the Sketch environment?

Dialog issue may also occur with multiple monitors - make sure Inventor is using the primary monitor.

I just tried it with Inventor 2025.2.1 and the Floor Plan Sample.dwg file.  DWG TrueView crashed while I still had the import dialog open, so I could no longer see the preview or adjust layer options, but it nevertheless went ahead and imported the entire file.  With thousands of elements, this makes for an impossible Inventor sketch, but at least it works.

I also tried it as an underlay (3D Model > Create > Import) and that worked very quickly and easily.

Hi! I have no trouble importing the dwg file in to Inventor 2025.2.1 as 2D Sketches, 3D Sketches, and DWG Underlay (see attached file). The DWG import workflow only relies on DWG TrueView for previewing the layers purpose. The translation can be done with or without DWG TrueView. I suspect the DWG TrueView on your machine might be outdated due to a licensing issue. Please uninstall it and the get the latest copy from https://www.autodesk.com/products/dwg-trueview/overview.
