IV 2016 R2 Problems

I have my Inventor installed on two workstations per my license.  Inventor 2016 R2 will not install correcly on one of them.

1)  On the machine that is rarely used I installed the Inventor 2016 R2 update using the Application Manager without installing the prior Update 1 and Update 2.  Everything went well and the build version in About Autodesk Inventor is correct,  Build 210, Release: 2016 SP1

2)  On the machine I use daily the IV 2016 R2 update was installed after Update 1 and Update 2 using the Application Manager.  The build version on this workstation in About Autodesk Inventor is, Build 138, Release: 2016 RTM Update 2

Apparently there is an issue with update 1 and/or 2 being installed prior to the Inventor 2016 R2 update.

Questions:

1)  Is Autodesk providing a fix for this?  I can remove Inventor 2016 R2 through Control Panel/Programs and Features.  But it won't let me remove Update 1 or Update 2 even though they are displayed in the Updates section of Control Panel/Programs and Features.

2)  How can I remove Updates 1 and 2?  How is this issue fixed?

Thank you,

Mike

You can find the program updates in:

program and features. Then click on view program updates

There you should find the updates for Inventor.

Yes I have found the updates in that location of "Programs and Features" yesterday.  The issue I have is when I try to uninstall Update 2 the Windoes Installer box pops up and states:  "The patch is not applied to this product."  Update 1 does not give me the option to uninstall it.

Other ideas to remove them are appreciated.

Thank you,

Mike

Inventor 2016 R2 shows up in my Application Manager but I still cannot find it under my accouint.  Since I get access to it through the Application Manager that is really not the issue at this time.  This issue is it doesn't install correctly if Update 1 is already installed, which was released prior to IV 2016 R2.  I can remove IV 2016 R2 but I cannot remove Update 1.  That is the problem I am working with.  I think if I can get both Update 1 and Update 2 removed then a fresh install of IV 2016 R2 will be okay.  I need some manual procedure to remove Update 1 and Update 2 since I cannot do that through Windows 7 "Programs and Features."

Thank you,

Mike

Sorry the hyperlink took you the last post on that thread, a different issue, below is part of Chris's from the top of that page.

This is the draft info for the soon to be posted article:

Title

Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1 or R2 install failed.(The version number is not updated to 20.1.21000.0000 in Help About Product dialog)

ISSUE

After installing Autodesk Inventor 2016 SP1 or R2, open Inventor, Help -> About Autodesk Inventor 2016, the build version is still 20.0.13800.0000. SP1 or R2 installed failed or not completely.

This problem is caused by more than one Inventor Update1 build were installed.

Solution

We need to uninstall the uncompleted SP1 or R2 and clean Update1 installation.

  • If you install R2 & it failed, use this command in cmd prompt to remove R2; or you can uninstall R2 from Control Panel. If you install SP1 & it failed, skill this step.

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2016\Bin\UninstallTool.exe" R2

  • Remove incomplete Inventor 2016 English Language Pack SP1 using this command (please refer to the following form for different “lang id” and use correct one to replace 1033 for English); if you want to install SP1 or R2 later, you can skip this step

Msiexec.exe /uninstall {C2B4B6F5-2010-1033-0064-E0CB94366A9C} /package {7F4DD591-2064-0001-1033-7107D70F3DB4} /qb

  • Remove incomplete Inventor 2016 SP1 using this command:

  • Clean Inventor 2016 Update 1

Msiexec.exe /promptrestart /qb /uninstall {D9AD67F6-F5D8-4377-8826-01687953EF10} /package {7F4DD591-2064-0001-0000-7107D70F3DB4} SETUP=1

  • Reboot OS if needed

  • Install Inventor 2016 R2 again.

Thanks DannyHubbard.  Using a command prompt method for removal and reinstalling R2 through the Application Manager fixed the issue.

Thank you,

Mike

I have been able to apply (without using Update 1 or SP1) R2 directly, and then SP2 on one machine. I have two machines that have not had update 1, nor SP 1 installed for 2016 Professional, and when I try to install R2 I get an error that says Explorer must shut down, and then hangs up. I am un-installing inventor on one machines and then re-installing 2016 and retrying R2. Is this necessary? or is there work around I should know about for the second machine?
