Issues with composite surface part in drawing

We use a lot of imported CAD from different manufactures and suppliers.  Once in a while what we get is a composite surface, which is ok for us to use in our models.  When in drawings, it literally takes forever to get anything done.  Opening, saving, modifying takes forever (30+ min).  Is there something on my end I can do to convert the file from surfaces to a body?

Hi! Quite a few faces on this particular model have been deleted so that the assembly becomes a bunch of faces. It is possible to reconstruct the whole assembly but there is no magic button.

You will need to go Repair Bodies environment (right-click on the composite node). Then use Transfer Faces to move some faces to new composites (for example, the handle at the bottom, the brackets in the middle). Each composite is targeted to become a solid body (part). The missing faces will need to be recreated. Lastly stitch each composite as a separate solid body. The process is quite tedious and time-consuming but it is doable.

Many thanks!
