Issues with associative design view rep and using the Isolate command turning on sketches

I think I am lost here. I like to be able to isolate parts while I am working within the assembly. This gives me a quick and easy way to remove the clutter.  I have noticed sketches occasionally turning on within my asm with only a handful of parts. I have pinpointed the issue to the associative design view rep and using the Isolate command. 

I have been instructed to use the associative design view rep value of default with associativity checked. When I isolate or unisolate parts, this only removes associativity and turns on these sketches. 

How can I only show a handful of parts without removing associativity?

You can't.  You have to turn the associativity back on after you are done with using Isolate.

Because of this and our heavy use of associative View Representations, at my company we are basically unable to use the Isolate command because of this.

Is there a better way of handling visibility of parts without using
isolation? I don't understand why isolation would function like that but it
is what it is.

I believe it's as simple as Isolate being an older function than View Rep Associativity, and having never been updated to work properly with it.  But that's based on memory going back quite a long way, so I'm not absolutely sure that was the case.  Regardless of whether my recollection of the history is correct, I don't think there is a good reason for it behaving the way it does.

One way I have dealt with this is to create a temporary View Rep that isn't used for anything else, so I don't care about broken associativity.  Then manually hide or use Isolate as desired.  When done, just delete the representation instead of trying to fix it.
