Is it possible to add assembly features to the individual sub assemblies/parts?

I'm using Inventor 2021 and I've produced an assembly with a number of sub assemblies and a few hundred parts mostly produced using the frame generator. these sub assemblies are bolted together using holes applied to the top level assembly.

When producing drawings, the holes are obviously only shown on the top level assembly view. Is it possible to transfer these holes down to the individual parts and sub assemblies so that they show up on the part drawings without having to manually go through and re-apply these features?

So you created the holes in the assembly vs in the IPT?

You'll have to recreate them ....

If you use the Bolted Connection Generator - you should not see this issue.

Otherwise, after the fact - Feature Migrator.

(I haven't tested with Frame Generator components - report back if it works.)

I'm afraid you'll have to draw them in manually. If you edit the part while in the assembly (RMB- Edit) you can turn on the visibility of the holes on. This makes the proces a bit faster perhaps.

@JDMather does the featureMigrator app still works for Inventor 2021? coolOrange states the following on the website:

"Note: coolOrange will not further develop the app or provide new versions for newer Inventor versions. featureMigrator for Inventor 2020 is the last version, which is published here".

Check out my ideas: https://autode.sk/2TKe6LH

Hi! There is a way to make it load on 2021. After the tool is installed, please go to the following folder and find "coolOrange.FeatureMigratorAddin.Inventor.addin"

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\coolOrange_featureMigrator.bundle\Contents\

Edit the file in Notepad and change the following value from 25 to 26. Save.

<SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>25..</SupportedSoftwareVersionLessThan>

After that, the add-in should load.

Many thanks!

Hi Kiri,

The same process still works. Just change the value from 25 to 100 for example. It will last a few more years.

Many thanks!
