ipresentation does not use the updated assembly

Hi all

I'm using inventor 2020 and I'm working with an assambly in an ipn.

I changed a couple of things in the assembly, like adding bolts, but these won't show up in my presentation file. I don't really know what I'm doing wrong.

Is it an idw made from the ipn thats not updating?

Or you haven't even made idw files yet?

Maybe effected by a Design View Rep?

I haven't made idw yet, so it's inside the ipn file.

I don't know what a design view rep is so I need to look that up first.

Hi Emma,

I suspect you change Level of Detail (LOD). Inventor Presentation does not allow users to switch to a different LOD. Sometimes, the components within a scene may not be in sync with the assembly LOD. Is this what you are seeing?

Yes, I'm using a LOD on my bolts. So for the presentation to update I need to make sure the bolts and other content center parts are in my lead assembly?

But isn't this going to make a quite large file? This is only a pretty small assembly but sometimes you need to explode everything from a much larger file. How does that work then?

Hi Emma,

Inventor assembly file is very compact. Most of the geometry is stored in the individual ipt files. I suspect you may have turned on Express mode (storing cached graphics at the top-level assembly). It helps open the files faster but it can make the iam file bigger. You can turn off Express mode, so that the cache graphics would not be stored in the top-level iam file (Tools -> App Options -> Assembly -> uncheck "Enable Express mode").

If above explanation does not apply to you, I need to see the files. I don't think I fully understand the issue yet.

Hi Emma,

The assembly lacks "DIN 912 - M5 x 0,8 x 35 x 22.ipt." Is it the bolt missing from the drawing? Do you have the file?

BTW, WinZip does not handle special character like 'Ø' well. It can corrupt the file names. You may want to use 7Zip or RAR to compress the files.
