Involute Spline Generator

Good day all,

Maybe is there is more of a question directed to Autodesk than the forum itself, but I am wondering when we are going to see a real spline generator that functions like the gear generator.

The problem I have on a very constant basis is that we work with, cut & repair splines.

The spline generator is very limited in the sense that it gives you what someone has decided are the 'standards' of this area of industry, but like a gear, there are standards that we need to adhere to (pressure angles, DP or DIN, to name a couple). But there is also the 'not standard' number of teeth.

I almost never find in the inventor standards of splines in the generator the number of teeth I need to create. The gear genny solves this problem by allowing you to input your required information and thus changes the diameters and such around your inputs. In the spline genny this isn't an option.

Why is this?

Dont take this as a slam on anyone or Autodesk. Love the products, truly. But having a more versatile spline generator is something that I personally see as a very strong need for this great program.

Have a great day all!

Have you considered using a 3rd party software such as GearTrax? I had a similar situation a few months ago and Gear Trax was a great fit. It integrates with Inventor as well.

Most of the spline I work with were in fact gear, internal and external.

I haven't found 1 that use the involute spline.

Those were press shaft, clutch/brake connection.
