Inventor Vs. Ansys Workbench

Hi every one

I am using Inventor and ansys workbench to create a simulation for car frame (square hollow tubing).

My concern is the maximum stresses from Inventor and Ansys are not the same?

Inventor gives double the result in ansys.

if anyone knows why?

Are you using Stress Analysis module or Frame Analysis module?

In the Stress Analysis you have the classic Von Mises Stress.

In the Frame Analysis you have the Smax, that consider the worst case scenario, considering, in addiction to the axial stress, the beam max bending stresses

Smax = Smax(Mx) + Smax(My) + Saxial
