Inventor Tube and Pipe - Can not add Part to new Style

Hi,

Can someone please offer some help,

I am trying to set a new Style in the IV Tube and Pipe.  I have created new parts based of an existing part (Tube and Elbows), Modified dimensions to suit, I have Authored the part & published to the content centre and all is well.  I can see and add the part as a Tube & Pipe component into an assembly, but i can not create a new style and select the part to add the style  It is in the content center under Tube & Pipe > Fittings > Elbows.  When in the Tube and Pipe Stlyes window, when setting up the new style, I can select the 'Pipe' but underer the 'Elbow selection' there is no results  in the Library Browser for Elbow.  I have watched several guides and it seems that I am following the sequence, but can not get the result. The part has the same basic parameters and metadata, the Main change was a new 'Standard' is referenced.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the filter set to where you possibly are not seeing the elbow?

@damien

Please check the unit string of both your pipe and your elbow.  I'm not sure what units you are using, but the unit string needs to match.  In Imperial, for example, Inventor accepts 1/2, 1/2" and 1/2 in as a half inch designation.  Three different unit strings.  In T&P styles, these need to match or the fittings simply don't show up as a valid selection.

If this isn't it... we can dig deeper.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the reply, Can you please elaborate a little more as to the 'Unit String' designation. This may have something to do with but even if I select to create a new Stlye, and attempt to select the Elbow before the Pipe (Potentially meaning the Units are not set yet) the elbows do not appear for selection.

The situation is weird, I have created the tube profile under the 'AS' ('Australian Standard') and this can be selected within the Tube and Pipe style filter. The tube bends (90 & 45) can not.  I am able to select the ASME BPE bends style to match the 'AS' Tube (which is the part that the revised components were modified from).  I can create the pipe route and populate with the segments and bends as selected in the style (AS Tube, ASME BPE Bends).  Once the route is populated , while still in the 'Tube and Pipe Run' tab select from the 'Content Panel'> Place, and then select the Fitting from the category browser in the content center window under 'Tube & Pipe > Fittings > Elbows .AS 90 Deg Elbow' and proceed to hold over the previously laid Elbow and will automatically replace it as per the T&P function. It seems like all the general Author and Publishing is OK but the Search Browser for the Styles just can not identify the components (Elbows)  Do you know where the mapping parameter is for this description for the search filter? .  The base part were originally all in inch and was a T&P component.  I did a 'Save As' renaming the Part only changing the first few letters and left the description as per original part. Majority of all the description fields are the same as the original part, except for in the 'family properties' Standard Organisation was changed to 'AS' and the Standard was changed to 'AS1528' for both the Tube profile and the Bends.  I change the Part to mm under the Tools>Doc Setting, within the Parameter, I change all the the dimensions to mm except for the OD, I left in 'in' as is the size of our tubes, but all lengths are metric mm.

I look forward to your reply as I am lost as to a solution.

@damien , could you attach the part which you use to publish to content center? For the unit string, if there is no unit string for NPS column in iPart table, the default unit is inch. If we want to specify the unit, we could add "M" as prefix like "M40", and it will be the metric unit.

Hope it works for you.

Thanks,
