Inventor Style library Manager 2025 - problem with migration.

Hi,

I installed Inventor Professional 2025, and now I'm trying to migrate my styles from version 2024 with Inventor style library manager 2025.

First I made a Copy of the Design Data folder from its original location on C: to the new location and configured my Project file in Inventor to look for Design Data in the new location.

In Style library manager, in the Style library 2 pane I found my new copy of Design Data folder, and it says it should be migrated "Inventor Studio Scene" file. Choose Yes to migrate, receive confirmation; but after that it says again the same file should be migrated.

Having not migrated style in the Style library 2 pan, try to copy one of my old styles from the left Style library 1 pane (which was migrated successfully) - the arrows are grayed out.

Trying to solve the problem, I manually removed file "studioscene" from the Design Data folder, and after that I was able to complete my task.

I don't know if it is an issue, or if I'm doing something wrong.

Hi! Our project team seems to confirm that it is related to studioscene style. You could edit the style and change the version from 2 to 3. Then it should work. It looks like a bug to me. It should just work.

Many thanks!

Can the project team add this to the list of things they test before release? It seems to be a problem every release and the same issue with version numbers not being updated.

Why do the 2025 styles require migration out of the box? What is this tool actually changing when you run it on the default style libraries?

Hi Ben,

There is indeed a process issue. It should not have happened. Somehow the style change was not properly communicated and reacted. Indeed it has happened in the last three releases on different styles.

I will work with the project teams to understand the issues better and see how we can avoid it in the future.

Many thanks!

How can I do this? Edit the style where? And how do I change the version?

Under the Design Data folder. The xml file, open in a text editor.

I am still having the same issue from the original post, where is says migrated success but it doesn't move anything and the arrows are greyed. Tried changing the version number in the studio scene but that didn't work either. Might have done the text edit wrong since Ive never worked with xml files before.

i have attached some images below. i have inventor 2024 design data in the left pan and 2025 design data in the right.

Hi! It looks like the 2025 Styles Library needs to be migrated too. I recall there was a bug in 2025 RTM version, which has been fixed on 2025.0.1 update. Please install 2025.0.1 update.

Many thanks!

Hi Johan,

This seems to be a different issue. The "empty" style library is basically a bunch of xml files keeping the current schema version id of a given style. The folder cannot be found means it was deleted or it was not installed or Inventor.exe cannot access it. If the folder is indeed empty, you may need to uninstall Inventor and reinstall it.

If Inventor.exe cannot access the folder, try running Inventor as Admin (right-click on Inventor desktop icon -> Properties -> Compatibility -> check "Run as Administrator").

Many thanks!

Have you had your error problem resolved ??   If yes what did you do ??
I still have this problem after 2025.1 update. I have this problem on 2 machines and tried ALL that were suggested everywhere in other treads regarding the Style Library Manager 2025 errors.

Best regards

Hi Niki,

I was told by the project team that you might still need to change the following file on disk.

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2025\Bin\_NewStylesLibrary\StudioScene.xml

Change the schema version from 2 to 3.

Many thanks!

Hi johnson Shiue

Thanks. Yes I found out that I needed to change the Schema version to have it working.

For others reading this thread a solution was found in my situation. It was due to the regional windows settings which I have my windows 11 installed. (English (Danish)). An Autodesk software developer helped editing the StyleManager.dll file and now everything works as it should. This bug should be included in next update.

Best regards

Niki

Hi all,

I am experiencing the same problem while migrating styles from Inventor 2022 to 2024.

I have installed Inventor 2024.3.1 on Windows 11 and encountered this issue. The same setup on Windows 10 works without any problems.

Is this a known global issue with Windows 11?

Also, is there a compatibility issue list available for Inventor 202x versions with Windows 11?

Thank you.

Hi Niki,

I was not aware of the particular defect and the fix by tweaking the dll. Could you share the defect ID here? I would like to see the latest status.

Many thanks!

Hi, I noticed that the version of the weld.xml file in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2025\Design Data location is inconsistent with version in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2025\Bin\_NewStylesLibrary location. AChanging from 3 to 4 also helped.
