Hello,
I have an assembly that I'm trying to make a simple animation of. I can get Inventor Studio to open, however once it's open and I select of the animate options, I can't edit any of the options in the dialog box that pops up (see screen shot). For example, I can't drag the slider and if I try to type any info into any of the boxes (Action and Time), none of my text shows up.
I'm running Windows 7 and have Excel 2016 installed. Aside from that, I couldn't find any dependencies that I may be missing. I've also tried to uninstall and reinstall Inventor, as well as doing the registry changes that were recommended on another post in order to reset the local environment but those didn't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
James
Everything looks fine to me in your screen capture, but it has never occurred to me to try to Animate a Rotation constraint.
This is usually done by animating an Angle constraint which then drives the Rotation.
Can you attach your assembly here?
Ouch!

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm fairly new to Inventor and have been learning on the fly, so chances are I probably did something wrong along the line and that's why it isn't working. Anyway, here's the assembly.
Thanks again

An assembly must include part files.
Attach your *.ipt files.
iProperties indicates that you are running 2016 SP0.
While someone takes a look at this - I recommend that you install the Service Packs an Update.
Okay, I've begun downloading the service packs. I'll update once the most recent update is installed
I've tried something else that I think will confirm that this is a problem with my software. I created a new "assembly" and its only included "part" was a simple cube I created. I then went to Inventor Studio and clicked animate object and had the same problem. The popup opens but I can't change any of the information in the text boxes.
Hi jeriksonU4KBN,
I didn't look at your files, and I'm shutting down for the day (year), but I think you need to have an angle constraint an use that, rather than the rotation constraint.
I might be way off though, it's been quite a while since I've done much with studio.
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

Thank you both for your help. I've tried to install the service packs and my computer just went crazy. I think my Windows installation itself might just be corrupt (I tried to install some other software the other day and also got weird errors). I think I need to reinstall windows and then try this all over again

You need to give more concrete information.
OH MY GOODNESS it works! You really are the CAD whisperer! This might be too much to ask but I was wondering if you could give me some clues as to what you changed in order to get this to work (constraints, etc.). Just trying to learn for the future.
Thank you so much!
I'm having an additional problem, however. If I try to change any of the values for the animation in the new files you sent me, I get an error that says "The specified value could not be applied. Please enter a different value." Additionally, if I watch the animation a couple times (this happens at arbitrary times), I get an error that says "Model has failed to update for the current time. Please correct the animation definition." Any clue what could be causing these errors?
I am shutting down for the night - check back tomorrow.
If you haven't already - you should also install Autodesk Screencast so that I can follow what you are doing.
