Inventor Studio and Excel.

I have tried to connect an Excel-sheet to Inventor Studio to set/drive parameters (distance, rotation, time etc.) in Studio from the Excel-sheet but have not succeeded.

It would save a lot of time if this is/was possible.

It would also make it possible to set up rules in the Excel-sheet for the animation-parameters.

Is this something that can be done? (Or will be implemented in future releases :-))

Hi!

It's not possible to control the parameters directly in studio environment with an excel data.

You can control the parameters with an excel sheet in the traditional parameters chart, and then, in studio environment set some parameters as favourites and use them in the animation.

Ok, Thanks!

(But it would have been nice).

Hi again,

Before I "close" this question I just want to say that I have tried to import from Excel-sheet the "usual" way and set parameters as favourites but that does not work.

If I alter a parameter in the Excel-sheet it will not affect the event in Studio.

I mean... you can only control parameters from excel in the 3D area, and set a value for a constraint, but...
In studio, you can set a movement based in a constrain, but the constraint value (movement) is not associative to the value that you set in the 3D area. It even can be completely different, so the values you set in studio are independent from the values you set in the 3D area.

Hi,

Thank you for answering.

What I was looking for was this:

if I should drive a constraint from "start" to "end" it would have been nice if I could set parameters "Distance1" and "Distance2" in an Excel-sheet and select these in the "Animate Constraint"-dialog box and have a relation between them. Change "Distance2" in the Excel-sheet and it will affect the, for example, "End"-value. The same for (all) other "parameters" as well.

I think that it would be easier to make/change the "story" in an Excel-sheet. In the Excel-sheet it would also be possible to wright a comment for each parameter so you easaly can see which one you want to adjust.

I understand that this is not possible (or I don't know how to do it). Maybe there's an even better way if doing it that I have not found.

Thanks again,

Göran

Yes i understand what you mean, but unfortunately is not possible yet.

The start value, we "kind of" control (update) from the favourites parameters, but the end value is the tricky one: we have to set it in the movement window and edit it if we want a different movement range... so, there's not an ideal way to automatize the process.
