Inventor Stress Analysis - how to report the scale of Adjusted deformation in images?

When using the Inventor Stress Analysis environment, viewing results with the Adjust Displacement Display feature (Actual, Adjusted x 0.5, Adjusted x1, etc), is there a way to view the scale factor used for the 'Adjusted' results?

 

Obviously Adjusted x1 is exaggerated compared to Actual, and I presume the exaggeration factor varies every time, perhaps being computed automatically to give a result that clearly shows the deformation on-screen. It's a nice feature but I would like to see what factor is being used in a result I'm looking at.

 

I don't need to change it, I would just like to be able to report, for instance, "Images are displayed with displacements drawn as 2.53 x Actual", or whatever the number is for the particular Adjustment chosen.

 

The hover-over tip for the feature (image attached) helpfully shows the difference between 1:1 and 5:1 exaggeration but the drop-down scale selector pictured doesn't seem to exist as a feature in the UI.

 

Currently using Inventor Professional 2024 release 2024.1.1

Hi

The "Actual" item (not "x1") is responsible for the actual format.

As I understand @Robert_Morris7FCJL 's question:

Inventor FEA will scale the deformation results by a factor.  It seems useful to include this information. What factor is used?  How can it be shown in the graphics window or in FEA reports?

Adjusted 0.5x Actual*0.5?
Adjusted 1x Actual*1?  This seems redundant.  Maybe there is a different scalar?
Adjusted 2x Actual*2?
Adjusted 2x Actual*5?

 

As Info: Ansys presents the user with several automatic choices, but includes the scale factor.  The user can also override the computer-generated scale.

 

In answer, I don't think that Inventor FEA makes the scale factor available to the user.  There may be something in the Inventor API or iLogic to extract that information.  It might be worth checking Inventor Nastran.  That package is more complex and is more likely to provide access to the deformation scale factor.

 

@johnsonshiue Are you able to offer some insight to the deformation scalar used by Inventor FEA?

Thank you @swalton for clearly understanding and clarifying my request. I will put in a feature request for the scale information to be displayed because I believe it will be useful to people.

 

Here is a very small screen clipping of a non-Autodesk product, I hope this is acceptable to post. You can see that this product has very similar options to Inventor Stress Analysis - corresponding to Undeformed, Actual, Adjusted x 0.5, etc - but the true scaling factors are shown on the left, letting the user see what scale has been applied to the deformation. Just like Inventor Stress Analysis, this program automatically determines what scaling factor is applied to the Auto scale. (In the image shown it has decided that 1 x Auto = 7 x Actual). The user cannot edit this value, but they can cite it in their reports so the reader can understand the deformation scale.
