Inventor shortcuts problem

Hi all

I have just updated to Inventor Professional 2021.

The shortcuts are not working properly. Was all right in 2020.

I have "M" for Measure. In order to work you need now to press enter or space.

The "Use default multi-character Command Aliases" is unchecked.

If you assign it to a non-letter key it works properly.

I have updated to 2021.2.2 and no changes.

S for sketch doesn't work as well...2021-03-04 14_39_19-Window.png

Hello @aurel_e,

Do you get the following dialogue box pop up?

If so you will need to deselect the two check boxes shown here... (Found on the General Tab of Application Options)

Hope this helps.

Ivon

It is unchecked.

I don't get that dialogue box.

I have the command dialogue at the lower bar though:

Hello @aurel_e ,

You may have to remove any short cuts in the environment (assembly, part) that begin with "m".  If there are no other quick keys with the same character Inventor defaults to the chosen characters shortcut.

This is ideal but should work.

Ivon

Thank you @leblanc2024

it works.

Anyway my question (to the Autodesk experts in this forum):  It was working on the 2020, what has changed now?

Also: my colleagues had the same update yesterday. They don't have problems.

Hi! The behavior does not sound right to me. There is no need to remove any shortcut key starting with 'M'. Is 2021.2 update and 2021.2.2 update installed?

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue

thank you for replying.

I have installed the 2021.2.2 only (see screenshot). I thought the updates are cumulative.

Do I have to install all the previous updates?

Hi! Yes, the updates are accumulative. Single-dot update contains all prior single-dot and double-dot updates. Double-dot update contains all prior double-dot updates after the single-dot update.

It is unclear to me why it does not work for you. It could be a language pack issue. Are you using non-English version?

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue

I'm using the English version.

Can you please check if there is anything to change in the Registry Editor.

I have seen sometimes people fixing problems that way.

Thanks.

@aurel_e I'm trying to understand more of the problem.

Did you import the customization settings from Inventor 2020?

Also what environments (part, sketch, assembly, etc.) had this problem?

Hi @Yuming.Zeng

Yes I have imported customizations.

In every environment you try to use a shortcut, if it contains a letter that is used in more than one, you have to press space or enter.

Hi @aurel_e ,

For this specific issue, do you remember if it happened before or after you imported the 2020 customizations?

Thank you!

Hi @Yuming.Zeng

thank you for your time.

I can't say for sure. When I noticed it, the customizations were imported.

This looks exactly like my issue that I asked about last year: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/chamfer-shortcut-sketch-amp-part/td-p/9644679

Basically, if you have -any- shortcut that starts with the same letter in another environment, you're pooched as according to JohnsonShuie in post #4, a large number of users complained resulting in shortcuts being mangled to work in all environments instead of just their own (paraphrasing).

There is no option implemented to revert to the old behaviour. I'd be happy to be proven wrong though, I agree it's pretty killer annoying 😄
